Arsenal have 'huge advantage' over rivals in £75m Anthony Gordon transfer race

Arsenal are likely to have the edge over other clubs if they decide to make a swoop for Anthony Gordon this summer - because the Newcastle winger would prefer to move to London.
Gordon is open to leaving St James' Park at the end of the season and is among the top stars at Newcastle who are likely to attract transfer interest if the club fail to qualify for Europe next year. And the 25-year-old will have no shortage of suitors if Newcastle indicate they are ready to sanction a sale.
Bayern Munich have already been linked with Gordon , who is Newcastle's top scorer this summer with 17 goals. Arsenal and Liverpool are also known to be long-term admirers of the former Everton man and both are expected to be in the market for new attackers once the 2025-26 campaign concludes.
But while a move to Liverpool would give Gordon the chance to return to his hometown, The Sun claim that the player's preferred destination is London, giving Arsenal a 'huge advantage' over other clubs.
Gordon's stance will also come as a blow to Bayern, who want to team the deadly winger up with Harry Kane in their already devastating attack. The German champions are ready to pay big money and it's believed Newcastle would demand around £75million for a player they signed for £45m back in 2023.
Arsenal want to sign a new left winger this summer regardless of whether or not they win the Premier League title with one of Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard set to be sacrificed to make room in Mikel Arteta 's squad.

They have other options on their radar, though, and are known to be among a handful of Europe's elite courting Morgan Rogers, with the Aston Villa star comfortable operating on the left-side of attack.
The Gunners have also been credited with an interest in Gordon's team-mate, Sandro Tonali , another Newcastle player who is expected to attract offers this summer.
The Italy playmaker was linked with a shock switch to Arsenal on the final day of the winter transfer window, though claims he had been 'offered' to Newcastle's Premier League rivals was quickly shot down. Bruno Guimaraes and Tino Livramento have also been the speculation of transfer interest with Newcastle vulnerable to losing key players if they are unable to climb the table in the final weeks of the season.
