Chelsea complete signing of ‘fired up’ Welbeck – and close in on another addition
Chelsea have completed the signing of striker Danny Welbeck from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 35-year-old has signed a contract until 2028 and will now join up with Xabi Alonso’s squad on their pre-season tour.
“I’m really honoured to come to a club of this stature at what feels like a really exciting time,” Welbeck said.
“I know a few of the boys already and I’ve had fantastic conversations with the manager and already feel that connection.
“I’ve got that fire in my belly and I’m ready to give it everything for this club to make everyone at Chelsea, and the supporters, proud.”

Chelsea are also closing in on completing a deal to sign experienced midfielder Jordan Henderson, following his departure from Brentford.
Blues boss Alonso recognised the need to add experience following last season’s disappointing campaign for the Blues, identifying Welbeck and Henderson as two prime targets to fill that void.
