Erling Haaland's unexpected taco obsession shows hilarious Mexican side
Erling Haaland was the star of Manchester City 's 2-1 victory over Arsenal on Sunday, the 19th, at the Etihad. However, away from goals and soccer, the Norwegian surprised his fans once again by revealing a little-known side of himself: his love for Mexican food , especially tacos .
In a video posted on his YouTube channel , the 25-year-old striker shared his daily routine as a City player with his followers, but that culinary detail did not go unnoticed.
Haaland confesses his love for Mexican tacos
During his vlog, the Norwegian star shared his drive to training, his physical preparation, and his meals at City's facilities. And it was during a tour of the luxurious dining hall that he confessed his love for this dish.
Upon seeing that the chef had prepared tacos, Haaland expressed his enthusiasm by calling them one of his favorite foods:
" Tacos, one of my favorite things ," he said with a big smile on his face. " So good. Top food. Healthy as well ."
Erling's statement quickly sparked reactions among Mexican fans on social media, who celebrated the striker's taste for the dish, though they also noted that the version he tried is far from the authentic flavor of traditional tacos.
This unexpected confession also opened the door to an interesting possibility ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup : Haaland could try authentic tacos in Mexico .
The tournament, to be held from June 11 to July 19, will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico , so Erling will not only be able to fulfill his dream of participating in this event but, at the same time, will be able to enjoy Mexican cuisine .
Norway was drawn into Group I alongside France, Senegal, and Iraq , and, for now, the official schedule indicates that most of this group's matches will take place at venues in the United States.
However, if they manage to advance from the group stage , there is a possibility they could play matches in cities such as Mexico City, Monterrey, or Guadalajara, where they might finally get a true taste of the country during the Round of 16.
Haaland and his teammates will make their debut on June 17 against Iraq at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough at 3:00 PM ET. Their second match will be against Senegal on the 23rd at MetLife Stadium at 9:00 PM ET. Finally, they will close out the group stage against France on the 26th, returning to Gillette Stadium for a match that will kick off at 6:00 PM ET.
