Fenerbahce ready to 'break bank' for Marcus Rashford transfer after Man Utd U-turn

Fenerbahce are ready to 'break the bank' in order to persuade Marcus Rashford to head to Turkey this summer instead of trying to resurrect his Manchester United career.

Rashford spent last season on loan at Barcelona , who had the option to sign the attacker permanently. However, the Spanish giants instead opted to pursue a deal for Rashford's England team-mate, Anthony Gordon, signing the winger from Newcastle for around £69million prior to the World Cup.

With Rashford now resting after helping England finish third in the tournament, the 27-year-old's future is still unclear.

There have been suggestions that the United academy graduate could be reintegrated at Old Trafford under Michael Carrick in a remarkable change of direction from the club. That has not deterred Fenerbahce, however, who have emerged as an ambitious new suitor for Rashford.

The Sun claim that Rashford features prominently on a three-man transfer shortlist for Fenerbahce, who are eager to bolster their attacking options. Rafael Leao of AC Milan and Crystal Palace's Ismaila Sarr are also on the Super Lig outfit's radar.

But Rashford's representatives have already been contacted to gauge whether or not he would be interested in attempting to kickstart his career in Turkey.

And they are ready to go all out to secure his signature if Rashford's camp indicates their client would be interested in such a move.

Rashford enjoyed a successful loan spell with Barcelona last season with their manager, Hansi Flick, admitting he will miss working with the England star last week.

“You never know what happens with players who are on loan. Our situation is not easy in that respect,” Flick said after a pre-season friendly with Preston North End.

“But I appreciated working with him. He is a fantastic player and a fantastic person. The team will miss him, I will miss him, but that’s life.

“This is something we have to accept. In the end, Anthony Gordon came in and from my first conversation with him, it was clear he was excited to join Barca. I’m really happy he’s on our team.”

Intriguingly, Rashford is not the only high-profile star being pursued by ambitious Turkish clubs this summer with Mohamed Salah also fielding offers from some of the nation's big-hitters.

It seemed as though Besiktas were in pole position to snap up the Liverpool icon on a free transfer, however, it now seems talks have stalled with Trabzonspor making a move for the prolific Egypt star.
