Leeds United 'days not weeks' injury update on key man as attacker returns before Bournemouth
Leeds United will be without Anton Stach for Wednesday’s trip to Bournemouth, though Dan James has returned to training and Joe Rodon is back involved. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Daniel Farke delivered the update ahead of the midweek flight south.
Leeds head into the game on three straight wins, including a first league victory at Old Trafford in 45 years.
Stach’s ankle ligament damage came from an unpunished challenge in the FA Cup quarter-final at West Ham United, and he has missed Premier League action since. The initial view was that May was the realistic return. The midfielder has impressed in his debut season, with four goals and three assists.
James’ season has been disrupted by injuries, with an adductor strain ruling him out of the last three matches, and Farke says he needs sessions to regain sharpness. Rodon, who had a milder ankle issue, sat out Manchester United then came on as a substitute in Saturday’s win over Wolves. Farke added that all those available last time remain available.
On Stach, Farke said decisions are being made day by day during a crunch period for cup and league, and he will not rush the player. He cannot promise the German will be in team training before the weekend or the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea.
Farke believes the wait is now a matter of days rather than weeks, while stressing Stach must be 100 per cent before returning.
