Update On The Future Of This Sunderland Centre-Forward: Good Move For Everyone Involved?

In a recent interview with Football Insider, journalist Mick Brown offered an update on the future of Sunderland centre-forward Brian Brobbey. Brown said,

“Sunderland do not want to lose any of their important players now.

“They had such a successful first season back in the Premier League, but now is the time to build on that, it should be a starting point for them, not the end goal.

“To push on from this position, they have to keep their best players at the club and then add quality around them in key positions.

“They already showed with Granit Xhaka that they are prepared to block players leaving unless silly money comes in, and I expect they will do the same with Brobbey.

“He had some really good performances for Sunderland last season, and then went to the World Cup where he was impressive as well.

“He’s so strong, so physically dominant, and now he’s got a year of Premier League football behind him, so it’s no surprise some of the top English clubs have had a look.

“But as far as Sunderland are concerned, he is not for sale, and they have no plans to lose Brobbey because he will be a key part of their squad this season.”

Brobbey’s Impressive Form In Dutch Football

Brobbey enjoyed a decent campaign in the Premier League after he put in a series of impressive displays as the focal point of Sunderland’s attack. The 24-year-old netted eight goals and picked up one assist in 33 matches for the Black Cats last season across all competitions.

The Dutch talent is currently among the best centre-forwards in the Premier League. Hence, Sunderland would do well to retain his services beyond this summer.

His current contract at the Wearside club will run out in the summer of 2029. Therefore, Regis Le Bris is under no pressure to cash in on him later this year.

Sunderland Are Unwilling To Let Brobbey Leave: Good Move For Everyone Involved?

Brobbey is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer the odd chance for his teammates to score and is a strong runner with the ball.

The Dutch talent has already proven his worth in the Premier League and could play an integral role for Sunderland in the upcoming campaign. Hence, Le Bris simply cannot afford to lose a player of his quality in this transfer window.

Brobbey has what it takes to help the Black Cats challenge for a top-half finish in the Premier League next season. Thus, retaining him beyond this summer would be a good move for both the player and the Wearside club.
