Kai Havertz warns Arsenal must improve again to defend their Premier League title with rivals making big signings - as Gunners chase Bruno Guimaraes and Vinicius Junior

Kai Havertz warned that Arsenal need to evolve to defend their Premier League title and avoid being left behind by rival clubs who have strengthened over the summer.

The title holders are still working to finalise a marquee signing, having brought in £34million winger Christos Tzolis.

Bruno Guimaraes is expected to have his medical on Monday, while Arsenal are chasing Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior whose contract expires next summer.

Though the other 'Big Six' clubs have already invested heavily, which Havertz is acutely aware of.

He said: ‘I think we can and have to go further. You see other teams getting better so we have to step up another level again.

‘That’s what we are all here for, that’s what we train for, play those test (pre-season) games and reach our goals this season again.’

The taste of major silverware from last season has also left Havertz wanting to make up for lost time having previously finished as league runners-up for three consecutive seasons.

‘I think we want all the trophies,’ he added.

‘That's what we're here for. We missed out on a lot the last couple of seasons. Obviously, we won the Premier League now, but there's a lot more that we can do.

‘We have to reach another level to make that happen. We know how long the season is, we know how hard it is to go through the competitions. We want to do better again this year and make things happen again.’
