Paul Pogba believes Manchester United will end their Premier League title drought under Michael Carrick . The former United midfielder impressed as interim boss last term as he led the club back into the Champions League .

He was consequently handed the role on a permanent basis. The Red Devils are already determined to back Carrick in the transfer market, with moves for Ederson, as well as another central midfielder, on the way.

And Pogba believes those signings could potentially help the club to end their 13-year wait for a Premier League title. Asked by talkSPORT if the club could claim the crown under former teammate Carrick, the Frenchman replied: “Yes.

“I think Manchester United will win in the next years, they’re going to be champions of the Premier League. If Arsenal can be champions then Manchester United will definitely be champion.

“It’s a big statement. No disrespect but I believe they will. In the next five years they’re going to win. Maybe I went a bit far, I will say in the next three years. In my opinion I think they can make it.”

Pogba, 33, had two spells at United during his playing career. He was initially at Old Trafford between 2009 and 2012 but left for Juventus after finding opportunities limited.

United re-signed the midfielder for a world record £88m in 2016 and he went on to score 39 goals in 226 appearances but failed to hit the heights expected of him before returning to Juventus for nothing.

Pogba was banned in February 2024 for a failed drugs test but saw that ban reduced. He has since represented Ligue 1 side Monaco. His United prediction comes just days after he tipped France to win another World Cup, having claimed the current side are better than the one he helped to the title in 2018.

Speaking to ESPN , Pogba said: "Yeah. I think everybody sees them as favourites. They have to [be]. They have probably the best players in the world.

"But obviously, that is not enough to win a World Cup, and there is more pressure on them," he continued, adding that "they have to keep the standard as high as possible."

He added: "For me, as players -- talent and everything -- I think they're better than us. Yeah, I think they're better than us. But then, obviously, hopefully, that will make them win the World Cup."
